     Brief Introduction of Honnavar TP..

    => The Town Panchayat (TP) Honnavar was constitueted in 1890.

    => It  is situated Near Sharavati Circle,Honnavar at National Highway No.17

          at  a distance of 450 kms from   Banglore.

    => It has a Population of 19,106 as per census 2011.

    => The TP has 18 wards  &  now as per KMRP -Project it is divided into 34 Blocks..

    => It has 17 number of councilors & 3 Number of Nominee Councilors.

    => Honnavar TP Stretches to an area of 9.38 SqKms.

ಗಣಕೀಕರಣ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳು

1. ಜನನ-ಮರಣ ಗಣಕೀಕರಣ : ಜನನ-ಮರಣ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳು ದಿನಾಂಕ: 03-03-2010 ರಂದು ಆನ್ ಲೈನ್ ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಪಂಚಾಯತನಲ್ಲಿ     ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ 1990 ರಿಂದ ಪ್ರಸಕ್ತ ಸಾಲಿನವರೆಗಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗಣಕೀಕರಣಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಪಂಚಾಯತ ನ ವೆಬ್ ಸೈಟಿನ್ ಮೂಲಕ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಬಹುದು. ಅಧಿಕೃತ  ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ: www.honnavaratown.gov.in 

2. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ದೂರು ನಿವಾರಣಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರ : ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ದೂರು ನಿವಾರಣಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಆನ್ ಲೈನ್ ಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ವಾರದ 7 ದಿನಗಳು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಗೆ 8-00 ಘಂಟೆ ರಿಂದ ರಾತ್ರಿ 8-00 ಘಂಟೆ ತನಕ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಪತ್ರ , ದೂರವಾಣಿ ಮತ್ತು ಆನ್ ಲೈನ್ ಮೂಲಕ ತಮ್ಮ ದೂರುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಬಹುದು. ದೂರವಾಣಿ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ :  08387-222630 , ಅಧಿಕೃತ  ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ: www.honnavaratown.gov.in 

3. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ವೆಬ್ ಸೈಟ್ : ಹೊನ್ನಾವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ವೆಬಸೈಟ್  ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು,  ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಕಛೇರಿ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲದ ಮೂಲಕ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಅಧಿಕೃತ  ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ: www.honnavaratown.gov.in 

4. ಆಸ್ತಿ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಯೋಜನೆ : ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯು ಪ್ರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು , ಈಗಾಗಲೇ 18 ವಾರ್ಡುಗಳ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಆಸ್ತಿಗಳ ಸರ್ವೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಡಾಟಾವನ್ನು ಪೌರ  ಸುಧಾರಣಾ ಕೋಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಗಣಕೀಕೃತಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು. 

Detail Information About Honnavar Town....... 

History: The ever historical reference about the Honnavar Town appears in the works of the Greek author (AD 247) and it was called Naour.In the 10th century text Jain Ramayana, the town is mentioned as Hanuruha Island.Honnavar or Onore, was notable seaport of British India,in the North Kannada district of Uttar Karnataka.It is mentioned as a place of trade as early as the the 16th century , & is associated with two interesting incedents in Anglo-Indian History,In 1784 it was defended  for three months by Captain Torriano and a detachment of sepoys against the Army of Tippu sultan.It also a history of having the name "Honnupura" (Kannada:ಹೊನ್ನುಪುರ) which might have been a major market and export hub for gold & related things.

Geography:  Honnavar lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and on the banks of the river Sharavati, forming an estuary.It lies midway between Panaji and Mangalore. Some of the important places around Honavar include the towns of Murudeshwara and Idgunji,both places of religious importance and Karkinamma , a Scenic mountain that has the breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea.Honnavar also has a port that was one of the most important ones on the west coast of India during the time of Marco Polo. It has got many powerful devine places like Veeranjaya Temple Gerusoppa,Subramanya Kshetra Mugva,Rama Theerta,Apsarkonda Etc.Some 18-20 kms from Honnavar,you find historic Maruti temple (Mukhyaprana Laxmi Venkatesh Temple) place called "Gundabala".This temple has a history of more than 800 years....

Coastal Land use & land cover pattern: The forest coverage in Honaver is 57,632 hactor.The total cultivable agriculture area is 9,597 ha.The total land put for non-agriculture use is 505 ha.and the land suitable for agriculture is 1,012 ha.

Famous Places: The Ramathirtha in the Honavar Beach, Basavaraj Durga island,Idgunji temple and the Gerusoppa water falls/ Jain Basadis are all famous tourist spots.

Transportation

* Road -There are two National Highways that Pass Through Honnavar.

=> NH-17 (panvel-Edapally): Mumbai,Panjim,Karwar,Baindoor,Kundapura,Udupi,Mangalore & Ernakulam  can be reached by this road.

=> NH-206(Tumakuru-Honnavar): Bengaluru,Tumakuru,Arsikere,Bhadravati,Shivamoga,Ayanur

Kumsi,Anandapuram,Shimogasagar  & Jog falls can be reached by this road.

*Rail -Honnavar has a railway station on Konkan Railway,it is about 5km from the centre of the town.Konkan Railway's longest bridge is located in Honnavar 2.065km.(on Sharavati River)& also consist of a 1.75km long tunnel.

*Air-The nearest international airport, Mangalore International Airport is 180 km away or about 3 hours 40 mins by car.The next closest is Hubli Airport,a domestic only airport.Goa International Airport (Dabolim Airport) is also an aiport about 150km from Honnavar.
